Exhalations Dance Theatre (EDT) is thrilled to present Kinetic Emotion. This new production is an embodiment of the ongoing commentary on the inseparability of technology and emotion that continuously impacts our lives. While exploring the progression of our dependence on technology, our resident choreographers will be investigating distinct perspectives on the effects of technology on our emotions, while also highlighting how essential it has become to modern life. Advancements in tech can be considered both positive and negative, but it cannot be denied that it will continue to be a driving force in our future.

We embody the theory that “real life” should never hinder a true passion for dance. From healthcare professionals, to dance instructors, to out-of-town students studying at Pittsburgh’s local Universities, our members have diverse backgrounds, but all share enormous talent, and a love of dance performance. EDT strives to represent an accurate picture of the dynamic dance community, while providing a creative environment for our dancers and choreographers to grow and share their vision with our audiences.

Since Exhalations Dance Theatre was founded in 2009, we have always been focused on the power of interpretation. With dance, one can perceive the position of an individual; and allow that consciousness to make a universal statement beyond the boundaries of language. The Choreography Project, now in its sixth year, strives to continue to push the boundaries of individuality, interpretation, and the importance of the present moment. The Choreography Project 2017 gives our choreographers a chance to discover their voice and mold their perspective. Within this production the choreographers are free to pick music and themes that are significant to them personally, or ideas they feel are momentous in our culture at this time. Our dancers also are given the opportunity to work with new choreographers from other companies and backgrounds who allow them to grow and push their personal boundaries.
