Ebony Cunningham was raised in Dallas Texas and began her dance training at the age of four. After seeing her first performance by The Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Ebony fell in love with the art of dance and decided that this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Ebony trained at several studios in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area area before she was fortunate enough to attend the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. While attending Booker T., Ebony had several performance opportunities and was named a Texas Young Master by the Texas Commission on the Arts, which allowed her to expand her training throughout the country. As a Texas Young Master, Ebony attended International Summer Dance at Point Park University for two summers along with summer studies at The Edge Performing Arts Studio in Los Angeles, Midwest Performing Arts Centre in Chicago, Dallas Powerhouse of Dance in Dallas, The Homer Bryant School of Ballet in Chicago, and Pacific Coast Dance Fest in Minnesota and Los Angeles. After graduating from Booker T. Ebony went on to continue her dance studies at Point Park University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2012. Ebony has studied with countless renowned teachers and choreographers throughout the country and her performance history includes dance performances at TEDx Pittsburgh “Power,” The G20 Summit’s Flash Mob, The Jazz Dance World Congress, The Dallas Morning News Dance Festival, It’s Showtime at the Apollo in New York, and many more. Ebony has been teaching and choreographing since the age of 17 and made her choreography debut in 2010 at Point Park University’s International Summer Dance Program. Ebony is currently teaching at Point Park University Community Classes and Millennium Dance Complex in Pittsburgh. Ebony is thrilled to be choreographing and performing with Exhalations Dance Theatre and would like to thank the Artistic Directors Lea and Katie for the opportunity to dance and create.
